Bobby Petrino Out as Head Football Coach at Arkansas

Bobby Petrino will not return as head football coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks next season.

Just days after being placed on paid administrative leave for an admitted inappropriate relationship with a subordinate, Petrino and Arkansas reportedly could not come to an understanding about what the next course of action would be. According to Clay Henry (via Hawgs Illustrated), the university wanted to impose certain penalties on the coach that he simply would not agree to. Thus, the decision was made to terminate the relationship.

Late last week, the 51-year-old Petrino acknowledged that he participated in an inappropriate relationship with a 25-year-old female that also worked for the football program. As per school rules, he was mandated to disclose this relationship as soon as it began – something Petrino obviously failed to do.

The relationship came to light when the pair crashed on a motorcycle ride two Saturdays ago and Petrino sort of attempted to cover it up. Eventually, the details of the whole mess came out and he’s been twisting in the wind ever since.

Petrino was 34-17 since arriving at Arkansas, but put together a particularly impressive 21-6 run over the last two seasons.

So being an a-hole won't get you fired, but being an a-hole who won't accept a tap on the knuckles will? Nothing about college football surprises me anymore.
