Tim Tebow Leading Broncos Past Steelers Was a Ratings Monster for CBS

Who would tune in to watch an inept young quarterback coming off the worst stretch of his professional career going up against a squad that boasts the league’s top defense?

As it turns out, lots of people.

According to the good folks over at The Big Lead (via John Ourand of SBJ), Sunday’s showdown between the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers generated a mind-blowing 25.9 overnight rating. That figure is good enough to be the best of any AFC Wild Card game since 1988 and, more importantly, offers even more evidence of how captivating a figure Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has become.

Whether you love to watch him succeed or love to watch him fail, No. 15 garners interest comparable to any of the league’s other big boys.

More importantly, though, if a showdown between Tebow’s Broncos and Ben Roethlisberger’s Steelers did those kind of ratings, you can only imagine what will happen when the league’s two golden boys meet next week. Couple that selling point with the fact that Tom Brady and the New England Patriots essentially embarrassed the Broncos and killed all of their built-up momentum when they met for the first time a few weeks, and you have all of the makings of a can’t-miss event.

Also, for what it’s worth, the Broncos are now 20/1 to win this year’s Super Bowl. Before the playoffs started, some sportsbooks had them at 125/1.
