Two public school teachers and a school administrator who call themselves "The Three Amigos" have come forward to claim last month's record Mega Millions jackpot, Maryland Lottery officials said on Tuesday.??
The Maryland winners claimed their proceeds Monday, but chose to remain anonymous.
Maryland Lottery Director Stephen Martino said that one winner is a special education teacher, othe second is an elementary school teacher and the third is a school administrator. All three plan to continue to work, noting that they were committed to their students.
Their winning Maryland ticket is one of three nationally that split the $656 million jackpot, the biggest in Mega Millions history. The other winners in the March 30 drawing were picked in Kansas and Illinois.
Each of the three will receive a lump sum payment of $35 million after taxes.? They each bought 20 tickets to combine a pool of 60.
Maryland Lottery Director Stephen Martino added that the three women were “privately laughing” at Mirlande Wilson, a mother of seven and McDonald’s worker who claimed she had won, but lost the winning ticket.
Anything for your 15 minutes. She probably thought it would make her eligible for more credit, or loans.
Oh yeah, I won too! But Um, I lost the ticket. But I totally won. Srsly.
