Children should instead be taught that P.E., healthy eating habits are the best ways to avoid these problems. Children are still developing and there's no way you would know they would get high cholesterol , in fact if they already are then there is a serious physical activity problem or eating problem and that should be immediately taught to the child

The common misconceptions of health are that cholesterol and saturated fat causes heart disease. As a result, many drug-businesses have profited immensely from the sale of drugs such as statins.
Interestingly, meat consumption has fallen while heart disease rates have soared! People need cholesterol (good sources are meat, eggs, oils containing saturated/monounsaturated fats, etc) to maintain healthy, functioning bodies. Especially growing children!
If your doctor wants to prescribe statins to your kid, say no! Instead, eliminate starchy carbs (which cause inflammation- occasional potato/cookie/etc is fine though), refined sugars, and processed/junk foods (McDonald's, chips, you get the idea) from his/her diet. At the same time, increase his/her consumption of meat/fish products, healthy oils, vegetables (especially leafy ones) and fruits. And finally, make sure he/she exercises regularly!
Regardless of age, lifestyle changes are the keys to health, not drugs.
Why put up the debate if you only have one expert? I doubt the science is that one-sided, and it just seems unfair to promote one side without having a voice for the other.
