Tupac Hologram May Tour

Tupac Hologram May TourThe holographic Tupac Shakur performance wowed and amazed the crowd on Sunday at the Coachella music festival - and the performance in the California desert might be the first of many to come.

According to a The Wall Street Journal source, reps for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg - who performed with the holographic image of the late rapper - are considering taking the virtual Tupac technology on tour.

A possible option would reportedly be a stadium tour which could also include rappers like Eminem, 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa (who also both performed with Dre and Snoop at Coachella), the WSJ reported.

Digital Domain’s chief creative officer Ed Ulbrich - the company behind the concert magic - spoke about the virtual Tupac in an interview with the WSJ on Monday.

“To create a completely synthetic human being is the most complicated thing that can be done,” he said. “This is not found footage. This is not archival footage. This is an illusion.”

Adding, “This is just the beginning. Dre has a massive vision for this.”

Reps for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg declined to comment when contacted by the WSJ on Tuesday.
