Stephon Marbury Wins Championship, Gets His Face Tattooed on Guy’s Leg

A change of scenery was all Stephon Marbury needed in order to be successful, apparently.

On Thursday, Marbury’s Beijing Ducks earned their first ever Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league championship in a 124-121 victory over defending champs, Guangdong Hongyuan. The Ducks ultimately won the series 4-1, and Marbury was a key reason why things went as they went. In the series-clinching game, he put up 41 points, seven assists (!!) and three rebounds en route to victory.

Three years after arriving in China, Marbury has now officially won a championship. (And for those keeping track at home, the New York Knicks still haven’t.) So how do Chinese fans show their basketball heroes how much they love them? You might be surprised.

Check out what the good folks at Larry Brown Sports uncovered:

Yup, that’s a leg tattoo of Marbury’s face. As weird as it may be that someone would honor an athlete in that fashion, American fans in glass houses shouldn't throw tattoo kits. Remember crazy Tim Tebow fan? Or crazy baseball fan?

Getting unnecessary, regrettable tattoos is a phenomenon that crosses borders, unfortunately.
