Report: Apple will Launch iPad Mini

There are renewed rumors that Apple is building a so called "iPad mini" to compete with smaller devices out there.

A Chinese web portal called NetEase claims to have access to Asian companies that manufacture Apple products, and it reports that six million units are being built and will be launched in the third quarter of the year. The gadget would cost between $249 and $299, MSNBC reports.

It's not clear how big the tablet would be, but the traditional iPad is 9.7 inches and the iPhone is  3.5 inches, so it would be somewhere in between.

Samsung is currently having success with its new 5.3 inch Galaxy cellphone, so there appears to be a market for gadgets that size. It is unclear if the iPad mini would also have phone capabilities.
