Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl Forced to Pay Up After Broncos Beat Steelers

Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos shocked the world this past weekend when they defeated the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers. And considering the fact that heading into the opening round of the NFL playoffs a number of sportsbooks had Denver at something like 125/1 to the win Super Bowl, saying that they shocked the world isn't an exaggeration.

While folks didn’t flock to make big money Las Vegas bets on last weekend’s showdown, some friendly wagers did end up getting made. One of those friendly wagers occurred between Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. The latter politician ultimately ended up winning, of course, and on Tuesday he paid off his debt:

“This is not something I ever thought I’d have to do, and it’s certainly not something I’m looking forward to,” Ravenstahl said. “However, we’re good sports here in Pittsburgh, and I want to congratulate Denver on a great win.”
