Arkansas head football coach Bobby Petrino was involved in a nasty motorcycle accident this past weekend. When it was all said and done, he sustained multiple broken ribs and a cracked vertebra – not to mention little cuts and scratches that were visible on his face in subsequent days.
On Tuesday, Petrino held court with reporters and more or less tried to put the entire incident and the questions surrounding it to rest. One of the questions that he answered came from 5NewsOnline.
The question: “Hey Coach, you said you were alone on the bike, right?” Petrino’s response, in turn, was a very audible “Yeah.”
Earlier, on Sunday, Arkansas released a statement (via Sports Illustrated) in which they quoted Petrino’s family saying that he was alone at the time of the crash. The exact phrasing: "Coach Petrino was involved in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening that involved no other individuals."
So for those tuning in late: both Petrino and Arkansas (by way of Petrino’s family) told the public, heading into Thursday, that their guy was riding the bike alone at the time of the accident. Cool.
Unfortunately, a police report taken after the accident tells a slightly different story. In that story, there are two main characters – one of whom is a 25-year-old blonde woman named Jessica Dorell. Here is the breakdown of what happened, per the authorities (via The Big Lead):
ACCIDENT SITUATION: OPERATOR PETRINO (V-1) WAS TRAVELING WEST ON HIS MOTORCYLE IN THE WESTBOUND LANE OF ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY 16 WITH PASSENGER DORRELL RIDING ON THE BACK. FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON, V-1 (PETRINO) TRAVELED ACROSS THE WESTBOUND FOG LINE AS HE WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES. AFTER TRAVELING OFF THE NORTH SIDE OF THE ROADWAY THE REAR OF V-1 (PETRINO’S MOTORCYCLE) BEGAN ROTATING COUNTERCLOCKWISE CAUSING V-1 (PETRINO) TO LAY OVER ONTO ITS LEFT SIDE. WHILE ON ITS LEFT SIDE, V-1 SLID NORTHWEST THROUGH A GRASSY ROAD DITCH, STRIKING A PILE OF DIRT AND TREE LIMBS IN THE NORTH ROAD DITCH. AFTER IMPACT WITH THE DIRT AND TREE PILE, V-1 CAME TO FINAL REST ON ITS LEFT SIDE JUST NORTHWEST OF THE DIRT AND TREE PILE…
POST CRASH ACTIVITIES: OPERATOR PETRINO (V-1) AND PASSENGER DORRELL WERE NOT PRESENT AT THE ACCIDENT SCENE WHEN I ARRIVED. EMS WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. OPERATOR PETRINO (V-1) AND PASSENGER DORRELL WERE TRANSPORTED FROM THE COLLISION SCENE TO THE INTERSECTION OF EAST HUNTSVILLE ROAD AND CROSSOVER ROAD IN FAYETTEVILLE BY…UPON ARRIVAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF EAST HUNTSVILLE ROAD AND CROSSOVER ROAD IN FAYETTEVILLE, PASSENGER DORRELL DEPARTED IN HER PERSONEL VEHICLE.
Long story short: Petrino and Dorrell were on a bike together. Said bike crashed. After the accident, Petrino an Dorrell randomly went their separate ways and nobody ever bothered to mention the complete story of what had happened until this police report emerged.

According to Petrino, prior to his accident, he had spent the day with his wife Becky at some lake.
In case you're wondering, Becky’s nickname is not Jessica Dorrell, that’s not her photo above, and she was not involved in the accident that Petrino doesn’t seem to want to divulge the full details of.

No. Everyone was well aware of Petrino's scumbaggery, including Petrino. He hasn't been holier than thou since hitting puberty.
