The fight that all boxing fans have been waiting for could be closer than ever to becoming reality. With Floyd Mayweather Jr. fresh off his victory over Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao’s campaign for Philippine congress coming to a close, negotiations could begin as soon as Tuesday.
Pacquiao’s trainer Freddy Roach says that Pacquiao’s place in the Philippine government won’t affect his fighting.
“When he fights they close down Parliament and all the terrorists call for a peace,” Roach joked. “It’s not going to change anything. They’ll just announce him as Congressman Manny Pacquiao, that’s all.”
The real obstacle stalling negotiations between the two fighters’ camps is the issue involving Olympic-style drug testing. Mayweather insists that any fighter he meets in the ring must have blood tests.
“If Manny Pacquiao can take a blood and urine test then we have a fight,” Mayweather said following his win over Mosley. “If not, no fight.”
Paquiao still insists that giving blood within 24 days of any fight makes him weaker.
Money could also be an issue now that Mayweather has taken on another highly skilled fighter after the first breakdown of negotiations. The last fight Pacquiao took part in versus Miguel Cotto sold 700,000 pay-per-view buys, while the Mayweather-Mosley fight is forecast to sell 1.1 million.
The hypothetical lines have been set by Online Sportsbooks with Floyd Mayweather Jr. favored at -140. Manny Pacquiao, though widely considered the favorite by boxing analysts, is the underdog at +110. The over/under on total rounds of the bout has been set at 11.5.
These available line are contingent upon the fight taking place in 2010.
Why is floyd insistent of his demands of a random drug testing? Floyd claimed in many occasions that he have prior knowledge of different types of drugs used by athletes, and some were undetectable drugs, and before he fought Shane, he declared "I'll clean up boxing", so floyd and Shane submitted themselves on the blood testing. floyd's imaginary accusations against Manny had stalled the mega fight. On the contrary, If in fact, floyd have prior knowledge of those undetectable substances, why did floyd and his own team, failed to petition their own US government to abolish NSAC or any sports commission if they claim aforementioned commissions were incompetent? or change the entire drug testing procedures at the likeness of floyd et.al. NSAC and any other sports commission were US CREATED COMMISSIONS! All this alleged drugs or PEDs use were known to floyd LONG BEFORE MANNY FOUGHT IN THE US. Why is floyd demanding random drug testing ONLY NOW?

Dont get me wrong Floyd only wants the random drug testing for Manny, not for the other fights, but when somebody comes up through the weights like that and still bashes somebody like margarito about your telling me you wouldnt question it? and in the sport of boxing theres no space/time for questioning youve got to take action. the reason he wants different type of testing is because people can work ways around it everybody knows that loads of athletes get away with it but you cant afford for this stuff in boxing. As for Manny agreeing nobody knows, have you seen the papers? its all talk from both sides, and as for getting te fight on, do it publicly! let the cameras and everyone see! oh and has anybody noticed that all Mannys "big fights" are not so impressive when you consider, De La Hoya had been beaten by floyd after giving everything in that fight at his age then also had to get drained to make the weight, Ricky Hatton had lost to Floyd and everyone could see he wasnt the same in his post fights and Margarito had been out the ring for over a year, hmmm impressive :|
