A Wichita, Kansas, police report reveals the sad details about a 54-year-old morbidly obese woman who was left for dead after she toppled off her living room couch.
The woman, whose name has not been revealed, was fed from her heap on the floor until she developed bedsores. The bedsores became infected and ultimately caused her death.
Police believe that the woman was on the floor anywhere between three days and three weeks before her brother contacted emergency medical services requesting help. At 350 pounds, the woman was too heavy to hoist herself back onto the couch and neither her mother nor her brother had the strength to help her.
The obese woman’s mother claims that she waited so long to call EMS because her daughter insisted she was fine after the fall. In an interview, the mother told KAKE-TV that she called 911 after three days when her daughter lost the power of speech.
EMS rushed the woman to Via Christi Hospital where she passed away due to complications from the infected bed sores.
... Okay, what? Plenty of people are 350 pounds and can get the hell up off the floor, what was her real problem?
I wondered the same thing..she must be very short and therefore being 350 pounds meant more on her frame..She probably also rarely moved (watched TV, etc.) and so her muscles atrophied..if she had bed sores, it means she couldn't move -at all-..she must have been more than 350 to not be able to move at all.
