MLB: Rays Upton Suspended Two Games for Tantrum

If you missed it, B.J. Upton went a little insane Wednesday night after he was called out on strikes in the ninth inning in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Apparently, MLB didn’t appreciate it because he’s been suspended for two games.

“#Rays B.J. Upton given a two-game suspension for Wednesday’s tantrum and plans to appeal,” says the Twitter account for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Upton had to be restrained from going after the home plate umpire. He threw his bat, helmet, gloves and anything he could find as he threw a terrific fit in front of everyone.

He plans to appeal the suspension so that he can play this weekend but then will supposedly drop the appeal and just sit out the first two games against the Cleveland Indians this week.
