MLB News: Houston Astros Heading to American League?

The Houston Astros haven’t had much luck lately in the National League. They’ve been a doormat in the NL Central for a few years now. So, if you don’t have luck in the National League, just move to the American League, right?

Apparently, that’s the case.

According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the new owner of the Astros has agreed to move the team to the AL in 2013.

“Prospective astros owner Jim crane has agreed to go to AL in 2013. He gets about $50M discount to go. He still needs vote of owners,” Heyman tweets.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today is hearing that it’s more like $80 million, but who cares really.

The Astros would be joining the AL West and each league would then have 15 teams. Of course, the owners still have to approve the move.
