The New York Mets announced today that they lowered ticket prices for 2011 by an average of 14% percent. It's pretty comical actually because if you buy season tickets they are offering you what they call "Amazing Mets Perks." Here are the perks you get if you buy a season plan.

Perhaps if they don't sell some tickets soon they'll let you play! Hey it couldn't hurt right?
The headline on the press release reads:

What the headline should have read was:
METS TO USE VASELINE WHILE BOINKING ON FANS IN 2011
The Mets drew 2.6 million fans to $850 million Citi Field last season, down 600,000 from 2009. The team finished with a 79-83 record, 18 games behind the National League East-winning Philadelphia Phillies and missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year and the ninth in the last ten. This announcement follows a fourth-place division finish and falling attendance in their second season at Citi Field where they just fired the guy who picks the players and the guy who puts them on the field.
In summary, ticket prices for 62% of next season's games at Citi Field will be reduced. More than half the 41,800 seats will see double-digit price reductions, some by more than 30 percent. Why are 100% of the seats reduced in all of the games? That would be abstaining from "the act"', they are simply trying to make you feel "comfortable' during the ordeal.
Of course they want you to know that Mets' season-ticket holders will receive an additional 10 percent discount off the lowered 2011 prices. The team also wants you to know that it will 45% more tickets than last season available that cost $15 or less and that single-game admissions start at $12.
What they probably don't want you to know is that some seats at Citi Field will see price increases that average about 15%! Yes that's right, the headline reads "Mets cut prices" however that doesn't apply if you are in a seat that had a 15% increase. No Vaseline here folks, if you are in one of those seats you take it high and dry.
The Mets hired Sandy Alderson last week as their general manager to run things. Good luck Sandy.
