Manny Pacquiao Still Heavy Favorite vs. Juan Manuel Marquez

Short of ending Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s undefeated streak before November 12, there is absolutely nothing Juan Manuel Marquez can do to improve his betting odds heading into his match against Manny Pacquiao.

Everything that can be said about Pacquiao and Marquez’s coming fight has already been said. It’s the third part of a somewhat epic trilogy between the two men, but it’s coming at least one year too late. It looks good on paper given the history involved, but in practice it promises to be just the latest in a long line of beatings handed down by boxing’s main attraction to an overwhelmed challenger.

And, perhaps most importantly, this is just a roadblock for Pacquiao -- a stepping stone of sorts to his supposedly inevitable clash versus Mayweather at some point in the near future.

After the Pacquiao v. Marquez III fight was initially announced, Pacquiao was a staggering 8-1 favorite. This obviously served in stark contrast to Marquez’s +500 odds, signifying his risky bet status in the eyes of linesmakers. Some assumed that a good showing by Marquez in his scheduled bout against Likar Ramos last Sunday would alter the odds a bit, shifting them moreso in the 36-year-old Mexican fighter’s favor.

As it turns out, not even a dominating victory by Marquez over his Colombian counterpart could accomplish this feat. Despite knocking his opponent out at the 1:47 mark of the first round, Marquez remained a heavy underdog for his bout against Pacquiao.

What does that mean for the fans? Well, if there are any particularly loyal and devoted Marquez fans out there, now may be the time to place a hefty wager on him. Of course, for what it’s worth, Pacquiao has been a favorite in every match since his 2008 romp of Oscar De La Hoya, so there are probably safer bets out there than this.

manny pacquiao lost twice against juan marquez, but the judges cheated juan out of the win, i want juan marquez to win by knockout, i wouldn't be surprised if manny pacquiao is using steroids his fights, im not saying that he is but it does seem suspicious that he didnt want to be blood tested for the floyd mayweather fight, he claimed that blood testing makes him weak, and when he finally agreed to be blood tested he wanted to take the test several weeks or a month before the fight wich gives him time to get the steroids out of his system if he is using steroids. alot of people try to say that floyd mayweather was ducking manny pacquiao but its the other way around,
