Lakers, Hornets, Rockets Agree to Trade Involving Chris Paul, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed in principle to a trade that will bring All-Star point guard Chris Paul to Tinseltown.

According to a report by Yahoo! Sports, the Lakers, Houston Rockets and New Orleans Hornets have agreed to a trade that will send Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic and Luis Scola to the New Orleans Hornets, and Pau Gasol along with picks to the Rockets.

Paul, of course, famously noted that the Lakers were one of his preferred destinations along with the New York Knicks when he quietly demanded a trade from the Hornets. However, because of New York’s decision to sign Tyson Chandler today -- thereby costing them the salary cap space necessary to sign Paul -- the likelihood of them being able to swing a deal became slim.

The best part of this deal, obviously, is that the Lakers didn’t have to give up center Andrew Bynum. Now they can either retain the young big man and watch him continue to blossom as Paul zips through the lane and frees up space, or they can use him as a trade asset to lure in Dwight Howard.

Needless to say, today is good day in L.A.
