Jerry Sandusky Apparently Showered with Boys to Teach “Basic Hygiene Skills”

The Jerry Sandusky legal team could double for the clowns at Ringley Bros. and nobody would be able to tell the difference.

A mere two days after Joe Amendola asked all doubters of his client’s innocence to call 1-800-REALITY (a notable gay phone sex line), his co-counsel Karl Rominger told reporters that Sandusky showered with young boys to teach them “basic hygiene skills.”

"Some of these kids don't have basic hygiene skills," Rominger told WHTM-TV on Tuesday. "Teaching a person to shower at the age of 12 or 14 sounds strange to some people, but people who work with troubled youth will tell you there are a lot of juvenile delinquents and people who are dependent who have to be taught basic life skills like how to put soap on their body."

Over the last few weeks, many have taken to questioning the competence of Sandusky’s defense team based on both their odd decision-making and their shady past histories. Amendola, aside from his recent 1-800-REALITY gaffe, astonishingly allowed Sandusky to go on the air with Bob Costas after his initial arrest, and attempt to make a plea of innocence to the public. Unfortunately, Sandusky came across extremely guilty in that interview – a point that Rominger acknowledges now.

"The problem is if you're an innocent person who's not articulate, you're not going to come across well, but you're still innocent," Rominger said. "A guilty person who is very articulate might come across innocent. So it's not a fair fight."

During a recent interview with CNN, Rominger also threw out this tidbit as a possible reason for why Sandusky comes across in the awkward, strange way that he does.

“I believe that mentally and emotionally [Sandusky] is much more on par with a teenager than he is a 60-year-old.”

Amendola’s personal background has similarly come under scrutiny. Numerous reports have noted that he too has a history of chasing teens in his quest for love, something that doesn’t particularly endear him to observers of these proceedings.

Sandusky, of course, is charged with 52 separate counts of sexual abuse and has been accused of molestation by 10 boys. Some or all of his victims, allegedly, were kids that he met through his Second Mile charity – an organization he originally founded to “help” underprivileged children.
