Floyd Mayweather Forgets What His Excuse for Not Fighting Manny Pacquiao Is

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have been exchanging verbal shots for over two years now. Topics of contention between the pair have included everything from performance-enhancing drug (PED) usage to race to money. They both talk a lot. We know this. In that spirit, it’s sort of understandable that given all the talking that they constantly do (as opposed to acting), one or both would get confused and say something that makes no sense whatsoever.

That’s exactly what happened to Mayweather at a recent news conference.

When negotiations for a potential superfight collapsed for the latest time at the end of 2011, the reason that everyone acknowledged was behind it was disagreements regarding what a fair purse split would be. Pacquiao wanted a 50-50 split; Mayweather refuses to give an equal split to any opponent.

So based on everything we know, and based on what Mayweather himself has admitted, that is the sticking point. If that’s the case, though, then why did the undefeated champion say this at a recent press conference?

Take the test? Is Mayweather confused or something? We’ve long since moved past the “take the test” issue. PEDs aren't even a subject of debate anymore. Purse split is the center of controversy now, not PED testing policies.

Looks like Mayweather has used so many excuses to avoid fighting Pacquiao that he forgot what his most current excuse is.
