The Duke Blue Devils came into last week’s match-up against the Ohio State Buckeyes ranked No. 3 and No. 4 in the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches Polls, respectively. Following an 85-63 shellacking from Ohio State, Duke shifted downwards in the standings only marginally, coming in this week at No. 7 and No. 5 in the AP and USA Today/ESPN Polls, respectively.
Why such a soft fall? Well, as we noted on Opposing Views, there were a lot of extenuating circumstances that went some ways in explaining the Blue Devils’ embarrassing showing.
