It's time for part three of our Big East college football roundtable. On Saturday, we discussed the two teams with new coaches (Rutgers and Pitt) and on Monday we talked about who could take the mantle as the top team in the league. Now it's time to shine the spotlight on some of the players. Joining us in our Big East discussion is our usual band of Zealots (including myself, Ross and Pete- who also writes for Big East Coast Bias) and Ken DeCelles from the USF Based Blog Voodoo Five.
QUESTION: What player are you most interested in seeing play this year?
Ken: Teddy Bridgewater from Louisville. He's an immense talent, and I wonder if he is going to take the leap in year two under Charlie Strong.
Pete: Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater has the most potential to have a breakout year. I look for the Cards to win the conference and expect Bridgewater to be the biggest factor in doing so.
Ross: B.J. Daniels, South Florida, QB. He's finally a senior -- he's one of those guys where it seems like he's been there forever -- which means he has just one last chance to live up to his considerable talent and get South Florida over the hump. Daniels is a dynamic athlete and capable of some big-time performances.. but he's also just as capable of absolutely disappearing during a game. But if South Florida can get consistent high-level play out of Daniels, it could easily be them, and not Rutgers or Louisville, that's the new standard bearer in the West Virginia-less Big East.
Kevin: I'm going to say Munchie Legaux. He obviously has the most interesting name in the conference so he should also be the most interesting player to watch. That and the fact that he could hold the key to Cincy taking the next step under Butch Jones. The Bearcats had a 5.5 game turnaround last year and they will be right in the thick of the conference race this season. They will go as far as Munchie can take them.
