Clearly Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Would be Best for Boxing

Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez have established one of the greatest rivalries in the history of boxing. Time after time, against the odds, both men put on unexpectedly amazing shows full of entertainment, surprises and legitimate competition. They’ve done it three times to date, and a fourth one has not entirely been ruled out yet.

Let me be the first to throw down the gauntlet – rule it out.

As great as Paquiao versus Marquez has been, there is something to be said for the fact that Marquez has never been able to earn an actual victory. Now, you can blame biased or incompetent judging for that, and you could probably make a legitimate case for either. However, how many times do we need to see Marquez almost beat Pacquiao before we get the point?

Back in 1999, Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Ruben Patterson took to calling himself “The Kobe Stopper,” claiming he was the only player in the league who could stop Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant. That was nonsense, of course. Patterson stopped Bryant exactly once over the course of his career, only to get burned by the young Lakers superstar on all subsequent occasions.

Well, Marquez is the Pacquiao Stopper. For whatever reason, be it more style- or substance-related, Marquez has the Filipino champion’s number. We all know and acknowledge this fact.

But that's not grounds for a fourth fight between them.

And now that we are some days removed from that epic Pacquiao vs. Marquez III showdown, it’s safe to say that enough is enough. Let’s get Pacquiao a new opponent.

Let's also make that new opponent someone who promises to challenge Pacquiao more than Marquez ever could – i.e. longtime rival, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

During a recent interview with NYFightBlog, trainer Freddie Roach admitted that he wants to see his guy, Pacquiao, seek out Mayweather as his next opponent.

"For me, Mayweather is the number one choice to fight next. I'm trying to get hold of Manny, to get his feelings on it. If the choice is $30 million to fight Marquez or Mayweather for $100 million in the biggest fight of all time, I'm sure he'd go for Mayweather. But I haven't had the chance to talk to him."

As usual, Roach is the voice of reason in the Pacquiao camp. If Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is like a little devil that makes himself at home on one side of the No.1 pound-for-pounder’s shoulders, Roach is the angel counterbalance to that.

He’s right, obviously. Everyone wants to see Pacquiao take on Mayweather, even the folks who feel as though Marquez deserves another crack at him.

The time has come – let’s set Pacquiao versus Mayweather up and finally answer who the better fighter is, once and for all.

Since advisors and promoters are having some problems making thid fight, a mediator is needed to help both parties way to make this fight to happen and hope it does not go to the highway. If all fails then I'll just go to sleep and watch the dream fight in my dreams..They make people wonder..now that my mind wondered..how about having a 24/7HBO on " Boxing Promoters on the job " and airs on HBO Friday night's " Boxing After Dark ". It will feature their daily activities scouting new talented prospects and since their always busy and on the go, there are many scripts to be covered and televise. I think it will be good for boxing...WOW ! ! what a brilliant idea, if this comes true, I want my cut. HE! HE! HE!

There Can Be Only One.

heres a new video 17 times, you still think its accidental? http://wearenetworkengineers.blogspot.com/2011/11/17-counts-of-marquez-stepping-on.html there are so many explanations that it is normal for a right handed fighter and a lefty to step in each other foot. But I really don't believe. In the first two encounters of JMM and Pacman probably it had happened but not as glaring as this one. If you try to watch it closely, JMM when he stepped Manny's foot seemed to press it more firmly and a bit longer holding to the canvass. These has been never an issue before and why is it happening now? JMM perfected this strategy during this training because this is the only way he can distract Manny's foot speed that had him troubled and falling to the canvass before. Nacho designed this cheating act. God is watching you "Dinamita" that is why you never had exploded. the fact is that most of manny's attacks involved some fancy footwork, and stepping onto your opponent's foot negates the effectiveness or accuracy of the punches, making you unbalanced and vulnerable for a counterpunch. clottey was reprimanded by the referee joe cortez when he stepped on manny's foot. and is it coincidence that manny's right foot seems to be the one that was always getting stepped on? When you see the clips of those foot stomping, you will see that it was a strategy indeed. The strategy was step on the foot and punch. It was not just an accident. All the times that he stepped on the foot, he would punch because his intention was to keep Manny on the same spot and get distracted with his foot. it appears as if JMM reaches out with his leg, as if stepping out further than needed to get at Manny's foot. it was very obvious that he did it intentionally to neutralize manny's footwork and balance. Every time Pacquiao gets inside for the offensive, it looked like Marquez knowingly stretches out his foot and catches Pacquiao's foot. With that being said; if it was accidental, Marquez should have pulled his foot away as soon as he felt like he was stepping on something but his foot actually was still on Pacquiao's foot until Manny had to pull away. In addition, I could understand if they were not intentional that Marquez would only be stepping on Pacquiao's toes, however, it seemed like every time he did, his foot would catch the whole foot (close to the ankle) which would prevent movement.

exactly..now it's time to see PAC/FLOYD.Many are saying that this will be an easy fight for Mayweather due to Pac's recent performance against Marquez. You hear it over and over again that styles make fights.Marquez's counterpunching skills, braveheart, and resistance to Pacquiao's storm is what separates him from the other opponents.Remember Marquez took risks, survive and weathered the storm against Pacquiao in so many rounds in the 1st and 2nd fight..Is there any other boxer out there with a great counterpunching skill be willing to take risks and slug it out with Pacquiao for 12 rounds and not fold??Marquez had laid out the blue print on how to beat Pacquiao years ago.But no other opponent is willing to use it and gamble against Pacquaio. No Risks No Reward!!!
