Fans of Bellator heavyweight Eric Prindle who were hoping to finally see him fight at Friday’s Bellator 65, will once again have to wait. The massive fighter tweeted out yesterday that he was now fighting on May 25th and it was later confirmed he had suffered a hand injury. For those counting this marks the third time during Bellator’s sixth season that a bout featuring Prindle has either been pushed back or scrapped.
It all started with Thiago Santos kicking Prindle in the Jo-Jo’s back at Bellator 59 during their season five heavyweight tournament finale. With Prindle unable to continue from the cup check, the fight was rebooked for Bellator 61 but Prindle got sick and the fight was postponed a week for the Bellator 62 event. The oddities continued as Santos badly missed weight for the fight and Bellator declared Prindle the tournament champion, thus earning a title shot against Cole Konrad.
Since neither fighter had fought in a considerable amount of time Bellator quickly scheduled their title fight for Friday’s Bellator 65. They then quickly rescheduled it!
The fight between Bellator’s undefeated heavyweight champion Cole Konrad (8-0) and Eric Prindle (7-1) will hopefully now be taking place on May 25 at Bellator 70. Konrad hasn’t fought since August of last year and will be making his first title defense, while Prindle was won seven in a row (not including the No Contest against Santos).
Friday’s Bellator 65 will press forward and takes place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The card will be headlined by the Bellator bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky against season five tournament winner Eduardo Dantas.
