The diagnoses of autism and related disorders rose 20% between 2006 and 2008, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Controls.
The report said the odd of a child being diagnosed with autism was one in 88 in 2008, compared to one in 110 two years earlier. In 2002 it was one in 155.
Researchers believe better screening accounts for the increase. The Associated Press has more:
