The debate about who would win a potential showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. has raged ever since the possibility of them fighting was introduced several years ago. Starting from that point, in anticipation of an event that very well may never come, everyone ranging from the sport’s biggest legends to its most diehard fans has staked out territory.
Team Mayweather or Team Pacquiao – you pretty much have to pick a side.
During a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Mike Tyson -- yup, the guy who today’s generation of boxing fans mostly know from the Hangover movies -- was pressed on who would win in a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather showdown.
"Who's favored in Las Vegas?" he asked, before answering.
Once he was told that Mayweather would be a 2-to-1 or 3-to-1 favorite, he didn’t seem to object to those odds.
"I have to go with Floyd," he said.
Obviously this was hardly Iron Mike’s firmest stand, but it is interesting that he holds such faith in odds makers’ abilty to call these things. Don’t forget, back when Pacquiao faced off against Oscar De La Hoya – Golden Boy was the big favorite going into that showdown. Pacquiao hasn’t been an underdog heading into a fight since then. (Obviously that would change if were to ever fight his undefeated arch rival.)
So how much should people read into Tyson’s prediction? Well, it depends.
Given the ex-champ’s history of face tattoos, ear-biting, drug problems and propensity for blowing money (once upon a time), some may call his judgment a little questionable. On the other hand, it’s tough to argue with someone whose voice is as angelic as Tyson’s is.
How can anyone argue with that guy?

Mike Tyson's judgement is a little questionable, by saying "I have to go with Floyd" instead of saying " I'll go with Floyd." I respect and understand his judgement for having his brother's back but "honesty is the best policy" Mike. I'll argue with Mike anytime, only if both his hands are tied behind his back sitting on a chair with 2 hudge bouncers behind my back..he! he!
