Ashley Judd has lashed out at recent reports about her “puffy face” being a result of plastic surgery or fillers, saying the media speculation was “nasty, gendered and misogynistic”.
Rumors swirled in March when photos of the actress showed a very full face, prompting cosmetic surgery chatter. But, Ashley blames her swollen face on medication.
The actress wrote an editorial for the Daily Beast blasting those responsible for jumping to conclusions about her face. She said the commentary, “embodies what all girls and women in our culture – to a greater or lesser degree – endure every day, in ways both outrageous and subtle”.
Judd also slammed the media for running the story “without checking” with her office or offering her “the opportunity to comment”.
The “Missing” actress also adds, “It’s an indictment of them that they would even consider the content printable, and that they, too, without using time-honored journalistic standards, would perpetuate with un-edifying delight such blatantly gendered, ageist and mean-spirited content”.
