Coming off a disappointing 2011 campaign where they went 8-8 and missed the playoffs for the first time in the Rex Ryan era, the New York Jets will look to rebound and make a legitimate Super Bowl run in 2012. Following their offseason trade for Tim Tebow, many speculated that the Jets would be doomed to fail if the NFL Gods didn’t take it easy on them and give them something of a light schedule.
So did the NFL Gods have mercy on Gang Green? Absolutely.
The Jets get a nice, late bye week in Week 9, and they really won’t have to do all that much work before or after that break. In the first half of the year, the squad’s only tough games will come in Week 2 (on the road vs. Pittsburgh), Week 4 (against the 49ers), Week 5 (against the Texans) and Week 7 (against the Patriots). Then, after the bye, it’s largely smooth sailing aside from a November battle against New England (at home) and one iffy December showdown against San Diego (at home).
All things considered, the Jets got themselves a very gentle schedule this year.
