The Washington Redskins opting to position themselves for Robert Griffin III completely changed the tone of the 2012 NFL Draft. Remember, while everyone generally acknowledged that the St. Louis Rams would trade down from No. 2, the Cleveland Browns were expected to be the squad that would be their trading partner – not Dan Snyder and Co.
Washington being out of the quarterback hunt impacted the free agency market, as well as Ryan Tannehill’s intriguing draft prospects.
On the other end of the spectrum, St. Louis -- who was reportedly enamored with Justin Blackmon -- may end up losing the player that it coveted most heading into these proceedings if the Browns decide to surround Colt McCoy with some talent.
And then if the Rams don’t get their offensive player of choice, there is a huge question about whether they’ll select based on need or just take the best player available at that point in time.
Of course, the Redskins-Rams deal is just one of the many things that has happened in recent weeks that altered a lot of people’s draft projections.
