Because we are still slowly but surely progressing through this year’s NFL Playoffs, our traditional five at a time format doesn’t work anymore. Instead, we’ll take a closer look at the three teams that recently had their championship runs cut short – including last year’s Super Bowl winners. Besides the Green Bay Packers, we’ll also examine the draft prospects of the Houston Texans and New England Patriots (who got a pick via the New Orleans Saints).

26. Houston Texans – Cordy Glenn, OG, Georgia. This is a tough one because the Texans are actually really good. They don’t have any huge glaring weaknesses, just a bunch of positions that they could theoretically upgrade. While a wide receiver at this late juncture makes a lot of sense, I think all of the ones worth taking in the first round will be gone by this point. Instead, it’d probably be best for Houston to add Glenn, who could effortlessly fill a hole Wade Smith never really seemed all that comfortable filling. Glenn is big, long, strong and quick – perfect for the interior of the Texans’ line.
27. New England Patriots – Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State. Defense. Defense. Defense. New England’s defense is awful from every imaginable angle, and it’s a virtual lock that they’ll use whichever one of their picks they decide to keep on a quality defensive player. Worthy has all of the physical attributes necessary to succeed at the next level, and if anyone can squeeze results out of him it’s undoubtedly this team. That being said, don’t be surprised if the Patriots opt to move this pick for something that they can turn into additional defensive depth later on.
28. Green Bay Packers – Jared Crick, DE, Nebraska. Defense. Defense. Defense. Defense. The Packers went out with a whimper versus the New York Giants on a day when absolutely nothing was going right for them. Their offense, defense – everything floundered. And despite the fact that nine times out of ten that loss would not have been as bad as it ended up being, this team has some very real needs defensively. One of those needs is a smart, reliable defensive end. Crick isn’t the most speedy guy around, but he has enough moves and versatility to make a difference at the next level. So long as Green Bay makes sure he’s healthy first, this could be a great value pick at a pretty late point in the first round.
